Back to School Tips to help your child transition into the New School Year

Here’s some back-to-school wisdom to prevent back to school overwhelm as the new school year approaches.

1. Reset your body clock now, not the night before.
Start inching bedtime and wake-up time toward the school schedule at least a week early. Your brain will thank you when the first morning alarm hits.

2. Rehearse the routine.
Do a “practice morning” — get up, get ready, pack your bag, maybe even walk to the bus stop. It’s like a dress rehearsal, minus the applause.

3. Tame the clutter before it breeds.
Organize your study space and supplies now. A tidy desk = less time hunting for pencils and more time actually… using them.

4. Build buffer time.
Aim to be ready before you actually need to be. It makes mornings less frantic and afternoons less rushed.

5. Warm up your brain.
Do light reading, puzzles, or a quick writing exercise daily. Think of it like stretching before a workout, but for your neurons.

6. Keep the calm going.
Don’t overschedule the first week back. Leave room to decompress, talk about the day, and recharge.

7. Anchor with a fun ritual.
A special breakfast on Mondays, or a family walk after dinner — little traditions make the transition feel less like a grind and more like an event.
