Special Stories on Disability Awareness

Stories both educate and entertain, stimulating our imagination and creativity. This collection of short stories, whose heroes and heroines are disabled children, will promote disability awareness and discussion among children aged 4-11.

Special Stories for Disability Awareness addresses universal issues such as fear, feeling ‘different’, bullying, success, friendship and emotional growth. The stories provide an opportunity for children to discuss different emotions as well as acting as a tool for teachers, parents and professionals to explore the experiences of disabled children.

Professor Mal Leicester has a PhD in the philosophy of education and is Professor Emeritus at the University of Nottingham. She is the author of Disability Voice: Towards an Enabling Education, also published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers, as well as several story anthologies. Mal lives in Staffordshire, UK.
