Children with dyslexia can be left “out of the loop” when it comes to discussions about the reasons for their struggles at school. What is Dyslexia? is designed to help adults explain dyslexia to children aged 8 to 11.

The book provides useful information about all the most common types of dyslexia: trouble with sounds, trouble remembering how letters and words look like, trouble finding words, and mixed dyslexia. The author deals with the basic facts and adopts a style that is accessible to children without talking down to them. He provides clear examples that children will be able to understand, as well as interactive activities for parents and children do together. The book highlights how everybody has different strengths and explains to children that it is ok to have dyslexia.

This book is ideal for parents of children with dyslexia, as well as other adults working with them.
