CanDo® Theraputty® is the gold standard in hand exercise material, designed to strengthen hand and finger muscles, improve fine motor skills, and support handwriting development.

What It Does

Theraputty is a resistive hand exercise material that works on strengthening the small muscles of the hands and fingers. It can be used in a variety of ways to improve and develop your child's hand strength, which will facilitate fluid fine motor, handwriting and daily living skills.

What's Included

• 6 x 2oz pots - one of each resistance level
• Color-coded resistance levels:
  • Tan - XX Soft (weakest grasp)
  • Yellow - X Soft
  • Red - Soft
  • Green - Medium
  • Blue - Firm
  • Black - Extra Firm (strongest grip)

How to Use

Each color relates to a specific strength level. An Occupational Therapist will give guidance on which strength/color your child will need to work with. We want to encourage:

• Squashing and squeezing with the whole hand
• Poking with individual fingers
• Rolling into shapes
• Pinching small pieces
• Pulling and stretching

Fun Activity Ideas

Make using Theraputty fun and motivating with these activities:

• Treasure hunt: Hide marbles or buttons in the putty and have your child find them
• Game pieces: Hide play pieces from games like Battleships, Frustration or Connect 4. Once found, play the game!
• Frogspawn: Use googly eyes - poke them into the putty, then pick them all out again
• Feeding time: Pinch off small pieces and roll into sausages or pancakes for a cuddly friend
• Coin hunt: Hide small coins in the putty - they can keep what they find!
